eCash Wallet Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the eCash Wallet application for iOS, Android, and web (the “Wallet”) and the ecash.com website (the “Site”), published by Mainchain Research Group Foundation (“Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the Wallet, or by accessing the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Wallet or the Site.

1. Nature of the Wallet

The Wallet is free, open-source, non-custodial software that lets you generate, store, and manage cryptographic keys for the eCash (XEC) network, and construct and broadcast transactions to that network directly from your own device.

The Wallet is a tool, not a financial service. The Foundation:

Does not hold, custody, control, or have access to your funds, private keys, or recovery phrase at any time
Does not operate as a bank, money transmitter, exchange, broker, or custodian
Cannot reverse, cancel, freeze, or recover any transaction once it is broadcast to the eCash network
Cannot recover your funds if you lose your device, your recovery phrase, or your password

2. Eligibility and your responsibilities

You must be legally able to enter into these Terms under the laws applicable to you, and you must comply with all laws applicable to your use of cryptocurrency in your jurisdiction, including any tax, reporting, and anti-money-laundering obligations. You are solely responsible for:

Securely storing your recovery phrase and private keys; anyone who obtains them can control your funds
Verifying transaction details (addresses, amounts) before confirming, since blockchain transactions cannot be reversed
Any loss resulting from device loss/theft, malware, phishing, user error, or forgotten credentials
Understanding the risks of holding and transacting in cryptocurrency, including price volatility and irreversible loss

3. No investment advice; assumption of risk

Nothing on the Site or in the Wallet constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Cryptocurrency values are volatile and can go to zero. You acknowledge that you are using the Wallet and interacting with the eCash network entirely at your own risk.

4. Open-source license

The Wallet’s source code is published under an open-source license in its public repository. Your rights to copy, modify, and redistribute the code are governed by that license, not by these Terms. These Terms govern your use of the compiled Wallet application and the Site as distributed by the Foundation (e.g., through the Apple App Store or Google Play).

5. “As is” disclaimer

THE WALLET AND SITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE WALLET WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. YOU USE THE WALLET AND INTERACT WITH THE ECASH NETWORK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Foundation, its contributors, and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of funds, data, or profits, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Wallet or the Site, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the Wallet is non-custodial, the Foundation has no ability to prevent, mitigate, or reverse losses caused by lost keys, user error, third-party attacks, or network conditions.

7. Third-party services and networks

The Wallet may connect to public eCash network nodes, public block explorers, or third-party exchange-rate APIs to function. The Foundation does not control these third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or practices. Your use of any linked third-party service is subject to that service’s own terms.

8. Prohibited use

You agree not to use the Wallet or Site to violate applicable law, infringe others’ rights, distribute malware, or attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or gain unauthorized access to the Foundation’s infrastructure.

9. Changes to the Wallet, Site, or Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Wallet or Site at any time. We may revise these Terms from time to time; the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Termination

We may restrict or discontinue your access to the Site or the distribution of the Wallet to you at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms. Because the Wallet is non-custodial, terminating your access to the Site does not affect your ability to independently run open-source Wallet software you have already obtained, or control funds secured by your own keys.
