eCash Wallet Privacy Policy

Mainchain Research Group Foundation (“Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes and maintains the eCash Wallet application for iOS, Android, and web (the “Wallet”), and the ecash.com website (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Wallet and the Site.

The short version: the Wallet is non-custodial. We never see your funds, your private keys, or your recovery phrase, and we do not collect, store, or process any personal data about you.

1. No account, no personal data collection

The Wallet does not require you to create an account, register with an email address, or provide any personal information to use it. We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
• Your private keys, seed phrase, or recovery phrase
• Your wallet balances or transaction history on our servers
• Government-issued identification or other know-your-customer (KYC) data
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or analytics/usage data
• Crash logs or diagnostic telemetry

Your private keys and recovery phrase are generated and stored exclusively on your own device. We have no ability to access, recover, freeze, or restore them. If you lose your recovery phrase, neither the Foundation nor anyone else can recover your funds.

2. How the Wallet works

Because eCash (ECX) is a public, permissionless blockchain, the Wallet broadcasts your transactions directly to the eCash peer-to-peer network so they can be confirmed by the network. Once broadcast, transaction data (sending address, receiving address, amount, and timestamp) is recorded on the public eCash blockchain, which is openly viewable by anyone, including through public block explorers. This is a property of public blockchains generally and is not something the Foundation controls, collects, or stores separately.

To display balances and network information, the Wallet may query public eCash network nodes and public block-explorer or exchange-rate APIs. These requests can include your IP address and the addresses you query, which are handled by those third-party or public network services, not by the Foundation. We do not operate logging or tracking on top of these requests, and we do not receive copies of this data.

3. No advertising, no analytics, no tracking

We do not use advertising networks, behavioral tracking, cookies for profiling, or third-party analytics SDKs inside the Wallet. The ecash.com website may use minimal, privacy-respecting, aggregate traffic statistics (e.g., to see that the site is online and how many people visit it) that do not identify you personally; no such data is combined with your Wallet activity, because we have no way of linking website visits to wallet usage.

4. Data sharing

Since we do not collect personal data, we have nothing to sell, rent, or share with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. We do not respond to data requests from third parties regarding personal information because none exists on our systems to disclose. If compelled by valid legal process to produce information, we can only provide what we actually hold — which, for wallet usage, is nothing.

5. Open-source software

The Wallet is open-source. Its source code is publicly available for independent review, so you (or any security researcher) can verify these privacy claims directly rather than relying solely on this document.

6. Children’s privacy

The Wallet and Site are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children, consistent with Section 1 above.

7. Your responsibility

Because the Wallet is non-custodial, you are solely responsible for safeguarding your device, your recovery phrase, and any passwords or biometric locks you use to protect the Wallet. The Foundation cannot reset, recover, or restore access on your behalf.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Wallet, the Site, or applicable law. We will post the revised policy at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Wallet or Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
